Sustainability Progress: Biomass Boiler

As part of the Shafi Green Energy Initiative and our ongoing sustainability goals, Shafi Gluco Chem has taken another significant step toward renewable energy transformation. For years, we have relied on natural gas for steam generation. During our rice processing operations, a large quantity of husk is produced, which was previously sold as a by product.

Recognizing the untapped potential of rice husk an agricultural byproduct of our core process, our senior management initiated the installation of a biomass boiler to convert this residue into a clean and renewable energy source. In collaboration with Steam Masters, the biomass boiler is currently in the installation phase and is expected to be fully integrated into our plant operations by the end of December 2025.

The transition to biomass fuel technology ensures up to zero waste by efficiently utilizing every part of the agricultural byproduct. It also provides consistent and reliable steam generation while promoting sustainable energy use across all processes within the plant. The biomass boiler offers multiple advantages, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, lower waste generation, and improved air quality.

This project marks another proud milestone following one of the largest solar green energy projects undertaken by Shafi Gluco Chem, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible growth.

Clean Labels

Consumers today expect clarity and trust in how their food is prepared, in addition to the ingredients. Shafi Gluco Chem’s clean-label approach begins far before production. We carefully source raw materials from certified farms and ensure complete traceability from field to final ingredients. Soil testings are documented to confirm clean label procedures, ensuring every batch meets strict transparency standards.

Our production facilities use delicate processing and high-efficiency equipment to preserve each ingredient’s natural character while reducing energy consumption and emissions. The result is a range of organic Rice and Tapioca based sweeteners that are minimally processed, free from additives, and backed by all major certifications. Clean label for us isn’t a marketing term it is the way we ensure that our customers can enjoy guilt free sweetness.

Sourcing & Traceability

We know that clean label begins not just at the production stage, but rather how much of this begins earlier on, long before the ingredients will be planted. Our sourcing process is built around transparency and careful control at every stage. We practice sustainable agriculture practices and keep records of every step taken from seed selection to harvest. Each field undergoes testing prior to planting to confirm soil purity, to ensure the crop is organic and non-GMO. Our stringent traceability follows each lot not only for rice but for tapioca as well through transport, storage, and ultimately processing: Every batch can be traced back to its origins, ensuring authenticity and uniformity for our customers. In keeping consistent visibility from seed to final ingredient, we deliver organic rice and tapioca-based sweeteners that live up to their promise of the clean label product with the highest standards of safety, quality, and trust.

Pure & Simple Innovation

Meeting the growing demand for clean-label ingredients requires more than simply reducing sugar, it demands complete transparency and respect for the source. At Shafi Gluco Chem, this principle guided the development of our two low-sugar innovations: Oryzalow and Tapilow syrups.

Oryzalow Syrup is crafted from carefully selected organic rice sourced from farms that follow documented sustainable non-GMO practices while Tapilow Syrup begins with non-GMO and organic tapioca roots grown under strict soil-testing and sustainability standards.

Every step of our process, from field to finished product, adheres to our clean-label principles, minimally processed, absolutely free from artificial additives, and carefully maintained through rigorous quality checks to preserve the natural character of the grain and root.

Our Organic Oryzalow and Tapilow syrups contain up to 70% less sugar compared to conventional syrups, yet remain rich in texture and flavor just as food manufacturers expect. We produce ingredients that meet the expectations of health-conscious consumers while ensuring the integrity of a truly clean label.

This achievement is made possible through responsible sourcing and gentle, energy-efficient production methods. We take pride in being an industry leader that understands and responds to evolving market needs, continuing to develop innovative products that balance health, quality, and enjoyment.
