FEED PROTEIN: WHAT IS IT?

FEED PROTEIN: WHAT IS IT?

Usually when we hear ‘rice’, the first thought that comes to mind is carbohydrates, not protein. But to many consumers, it is unknown that these little grains contain enough protein for anyone to boost lean muscle and strength. Rice powder possesses the ability to deliver the same gains as whey, when taken in the appropriate amounts and complemented with other high-quality foods! Results of researches have shown equally positive gains in subjects in rice and whey protein groups. In addition, rice protein is also allergen and gluten free, easy to digest as well as Earth friendly.

To further define our product: feed grade rice protein is a bi-product of high-quality rice starch, where the same rice is also used in food-grade products therefore, contains high-quality rice nutrition. It is produced through a biological fermentation process. This process includes enzymes that perform by separating the starch in the form of carbohydrate, from the protein. Filtration is another step involved, which is used to separate the protein, carbohydrate and fibre from the grain. Rice protein is a source with commendable digestibility and is also 100% suitable for vegetarians.

It is widely used to feed livestock in the feed industry. This rich in protein feed promotes growth in animals as it is categorized as a health enhancing protein source, prevents diseases by strengthening the immune system and helps store protein in the body, improving general energy consumption. This feed protein is also essential in stock breeding for cattle, poultry and aquatic livestock.

Moreover, it has largely become a replacement for fish and soybean meals as it is less costly than fish meals and is a better option than soybean, because of rice protein’s hypo-allergic nature. It has also become a commonly used additive. Additives are added to food so to preserve or maintain its appearance, texture, freshness, taste and safety. These are selected based on their minimality of posing harmful effects on human health. It has also entered a multitude of medicines and is being used in their production as this protein provides the body with nutrients known as amino acids. Specifically, the kind that prevent a body from consisting of too much sugar and may even be able to reduce blood pressure and blood fat.

Rice feed protein features:

Primarily at SGC we have two feed grades for rice protein i.e. in powder form at 50% and at 70%. The 50% protein feed is further divided into two mesh sizes i.e. 45 and 100. A ‘mesh size’ is defined as the number of openings in one square inch of a screen, therefore 45 mesh size would indicate 45 openings. The 70% protein feed comes at a 100-mesh size.
